About Our Class and Mrs. S

I am excited for this year in our beautiful school! I look forward to working with your students on our new ELA as well as math curriculum. I feel both of these resources are a super positive change for our class and district!! We have been incorporating our social studies standards about Colorado into our ELA time when we work with non-fiction texts. We will also be incorporating science in different areas throughout the year.
A little about myself personally; I moved to Bayfield in 2017. I was blessed with a beautiful baby boy in the beginning of 2018. My husband and I both work for the district and love this small community. Our families both live in the county as well! We moved here to be closer to them but we are enjoying all the new friends we have made in this wonderful place we call home.
I have always loved to ski and snowboard and worked at a resort for about 8 years. I enjoy being outside, and for this reason, plan on getting your students outside as much as possible!
I look forward to a wonderful school year and getting to know each and every one of you!

Homework and Field Trip

Hello! Man has time been flying by around here!! If your student told you they did not have math homework last night, they are correct. When  I forget to assign them a page from the book the best thing to do is practice practice practice those multiplication facts. When  you feel those are starting to become solid, start working on some simple division.
Tonight's homework will be page 33
Wednesday - page 34
Thursday - page 35
Library will be tomorrow due to our field trip on Friday.
Field trip Friday is to the Aztec Ruins and Pioneer Museum. Please send your student with a sack lunch (can be provided by school is needed), warm clothes, and sturdy shoes.
(Our Field Trip to the Museum in Ignacio will tentatively be in January)
Have a wonderful and safe Thanksgiving!

Field Trip - Your student should have brought this home yesterday!

Dear Parents/Guardians, 10/15/2018

Our Bear Smart Field trip has been rescheduled.

We will be going on Thursday, October 18, 2018. Buses will depart at 8:15 am and we will return to school at 11 am.

Please pack a sack lunch. Bring a water bottle and a snack.  It is cold in the morning and we will be outside. Please make sure your child is dressed in layers and has on a warm jacket.

In preparation for our Bear Smart field trip there are a few items you need to be aware of:

  1. The only available restroom will be a quarter mile walk from the activity. If you anticipate this being a problem for your child please let your child’s teacher know. The goal is that students will have the opportunity to use the

restroom at school before we leave and when we return.

  1. We are anticipating that the area will be wet and muddy. If possible please send your child to school with two pairs of shoes. One to hike in and get muddy and another pair to change into upon our return to school.
  2. If you signed up to be a chaperone and would still like to go or this new date does not work for you please contact your child’s teacher.

Please let us know if you have any other questions or concerns,

4th Grade Team
