Winter Family Dance to Kick Off 2025 with Music, Fun, and Teacher Experiences

Families enjoy getting together at the dance.

Families in Bayfield are getting ready to dance the night away at the annual Winter Family Dance, hosted by the Bayfield Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA) on Friday, January 24, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Bayfield Intermediate School (BIS).

The Winter Family Dance promises a night of music, dancing, and plenty of exciting activities. In addition to the dancing, attendees can enjoy snacks and drinks from a cash-only concession stand and also purchase beautiful corsages and boutonnieres to make the night sparkle just a little bit more.

The event also features a Silent Auction offering exclusive Teacher Experiences! Bid on unique opportunities to spend time with your favorite BIS educators in fun and creative settings. Principal Will Machallister is offering two different experiences in the auction — Cupcake Decorating with three friends and a Dodgeball Game between the family that submits the winning bid and the BIS staff!

Some of the other exciting experiences available include:

  • Jodi DeHondt: Walk to the Pine Cone for ice cream
  • Rita Elliott: Create a 3D Heart or Snowflake from an art project bag
  • Lora Porter: After-school movie, snack, and snuggle time with her fluffy dog, Everest
  • Erin Van Winkle: Lunch with her and her doggo
  • Jo Lee: R/C Car Rock Crawling experience
  • Alex Forsthoff: A private guitar lesson
There are some awesome experiences from Bayfield Primary School teachers as well:

         •  Mrs. Jen Nyberg - art for 1 hour after school
         •  Mrs. Jan Alderton - lunch and bracelet making with the principal
         •  Miss Savannah (ESS Para) - sew a bandana or pillow case
         •  Ms. Candy - (#1) 2 hours of crafting at BPS
         •  Ms. Candy - (#2) 1 hour of crafting at BPS
         •  Ms. Candy - (#3) 1.5 hours of crafting at BPS
         •  Mrs. Tracy Scherar - 1 hour of coloring and hot cocoa
         •  Mrs. Becki Talbot - dinner and bowling with my family and yours
         •  Mrs. Katie Peak - your choice of lunch from any restaurant in Bayfield with Mrs. Peak in her classroom

The silent auction is a fundraiser for the PTSA, with all proceeds supporting student and school activities.

Admission to the dance is just $2 per person, or you can earn free entry by donating a box of Clorox Wipes or Kleenex. All students must be accompanied by an adult chaperone.

"This is the first big social event of 2025, and we’re excited to bring the community together for an evening of fun," Bayfield School District Media Specialist Bob Bonnar said. "Whether you're coming for the dancing, the auction, or just to spend time with friends and family, there's something for everyone."
