These Are the Days...

Dear BIS Families,

Welcome back to another exciting year at Bayfield Intermediate School!

As I prepare to welcome students back into our hallways, I've found myself thinking about how quickly these elementary years pass.

One day your child is nervously walking into third grade with a backpack that seems too big. Before you know it, they're finishing fifth grade—more confident, more capable, and ready for whatever comes next.

Somewhere between those first-day jitters and that final walk across our cafeteria, something incredible happens. Children grow. Not just academically. They grow in confidence. In curiosity. In kindness.  In resilience. In believing they can do things they never thought possible.

Those changes don't happen because of one lesson, one teacher, or one special event. They happen because of ordinary days.

That is why our theme this year is simple, but meaningful:

These Are the Days...

These are the days when friendships are formed.

These are the days when confidence begins to replace uncertainty.

These are the days when mistakes become opportunities to learn.

These are the days when curiosity turns into discovery.

These are the days when children realize they belong.

And most importantly...

These are the days that become the foundation for everything that comes next.

At Bayfield Intermediate School, we believe every child deserves to feel known, valued, challenged, and supported. Our district has set a vision of creating a future where every Bayfield student thrives, and every day we have the privilege of helping bring that vision to life in our classrooms. Together, we are preparing students to become strong learners, thoughtful problem-solvers, effective communicators, active contributors, and resilient individuals who are ready for wherever life leads them.

But we also know that schools cannot do this work alone. The strongest foundation is built when school and home work together.

This year, we invite you to partner with us by:

• Encouraging your child to be curious and ask questions.
• Celebrating effort just as much if not more than achievement.
• Reading together and talking about each school day.
• Staying connected with your child's teacher.
• Trusting that we all share the same goal: helping your child grow into the very best version of themselves.

These moments may seem ordinary today, but together they shape extraordinary futures. Years from now, your child probably won't remember every worksheet they completed or every spelling test they took.

But they will remember how they felt. They will remember the teacher who believed in them. The friends who welcomed them. The school where they felt safe enough to take risks. The adults who worked together to help them succeed. Those are the memories—and the foundation—we hope to build this year.
